Hello All,
I am hoping someone out in that location tin assistance resolve a problem I take regarding the use of iCloud Drive on my elderly Imac running OSX 10.6.8. I accept been accessing my iCloud Drive via Finder quite happily for almost a year, but a few days ago the hard drive went pop and I had to have a new drive and OSX installed. Since so I cannot detect a way of getting iCould Drive inserted into the finder's Sidebar. I know that 10.half-dozen.8 is not supposed to exist uniform, but every bit I was able to get it working last time (I tin can't remember but presumably after finding a solution on the web) I cannot empathize why, after hours of searching this fourth dimension, I tin can find no information at all on how to do it.

Any advice or information would exist greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.

Practice you have a fill-in of your older hard bulldoze? Time Motorcar worked just as well with Snow Leopard as information technology does now with Loftier Sierra. If you lot have a fill-in, restore from it and your iCloud drive should appear.

Also, practise not overlook something uncomplicated: Open Finder, select Preferences, select Side Bar. Brand sure that iCloud bulldoze has a check marker (selected).

While that machine might be elderly, information technology can likely be upgraded to El Cap at least. That will give you lot iCloud without the hacks and likewise ensure that recent apps will keep to piece of work. Most updated apps use 10.ten Yosemite every bit a minimum requirement. While El Cap isn't getting security updates, being newer it has updates that your 10.6.eight Snow Leopard machine doesn't have and it's always good to exist as new as possible.

While that car might be elderly, it can likely be upgraded to El Cap at to the lowest degree.

If it'south a Early 2006 family iMac it's limited to Maximum MacOS: X ten.6.8 per everymac.com.

As for some possible options for the OP, peradventure go through some of the hits from here:
https://www.google.com/search?clien...ive+in+Finder+of+OSX+10.6.8&ie=UTF-viii&oe=UTF-8

I know I got parts of iCloud sort of half-assed working with my SL, just I'g sure I didn't practice anything elaborate like the directions URL posted but I didn't practice much with it.

If I recall, information technology likewise used the old Apple security method before their current 2FA method and it may non exist attainable any more to get it working. But I'grand not sure.

Apple may too exist restricting "un-supported" Finder use access equally well lately with all their "security" things. But I'one thousand not sure.

Maybe just use the browser access method which isn't exactly platonic even if and when it does work.

And no, I'm sure not a fan of Apple iCloud and the ways it may or may non work… or non!!!

Offset, thanks to all who have responded. It's reassuring to know that there is so much speedy help out there.

I did not run backups, do I suppose I deserve all I got. (I have set Time Machine running now - closing the stable door etc., but it should stop any more horses bolting.)

It seems El Capitan volition not keep this machine.

I've tried the link provided by one of the responders just no luck I'grand afraid - I had been there before and not found the answer.

I can access iCloud Bulldoze easily through a browser, and that is good, but having to download for editing, then remembering to upload the edited version later ditching/renaming the original, is a bit of a pain - which of course I don't have to suffer when using my Windows machines. I practise not need to synchronise with iCloud, I just need to be able to open and piece of work with files straight from the iCloud Bulldoze, just like whatsoever other drive. What really bugs me is that I cannot find any instructions on the web for getting the iCloud Drive to bear witness in Finder, knowing that I have done it once successfully in the not too distant past.

Thanks again for all your responses. I will stay optimistic on the basis that the answer is out there somewhere.

cheers
